softball sign 2020(LAKEWOOD RANCH FL.)- LRHS Varsity Softball is off to a busy start with three games this week. The team will play their home opener on Wednesday Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. against Charlotte Highschool. Friday will be an away game at 7 p.m. versus Canterbury Highschool. Saturday, LRHS will host American Heritage at home at 11 a.m.

In the 2020 Miracle Sports Florida softball preseason poll, LRHS is ranked first overall in Class 7A. LRHS also represents Florida in the MaxPreps Best High School Softball Team in Each State.

Junior captain Jillian Herbst is happy with the recent rankings.

“The team is working super hard at practice. It’s nice to see that the hard work is paying off, but we still have so much to improve on field,” said Herbst.

Senior Captain Avery Goelz said, “It’s going to be a busy yet exciting week. This team is goal driven and excited to succeed. This is my last season wearing an LRHS jersey and I’m looking to make it the most memorable one.”

The Mustangs’ motto for this season is “one more” and with a full schedule of 25 games, they plan to focus on one game at a time.
