student for safety logo(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS club Students for Safety (SFS) held their first meeting of the second semester on Friday.

The meeting was an introduction to a new teacher adviser, Language Arts teacher Kristen Wilkstrom, who replaced history teacher Kathleen Soles.

Co-president junior Ella Botko said she’s “looking forward to what the rest of this year will bring. We as a club have many attainable goals that will hopefully be met with the support of our officers and members.”

SFS has embedded the responsibilities of Students Against Violence Everywhere (S.A.V.E), a program run by the Sandy Hooke Promise. SFS will host events through S.A.V.E to bring more awareness to school safety.

SFS will be planning and preparing Say Something week from March 2-6. They will   host a fundraiser during the middle of the week, and have different activities each day that everyone in the school can get involved in.

“I’m very excited for our upcoming plans and hope we’ll be successful in our future endeavors,” said Botko.

The next meeting will be held on Feb. 27. Follow the club’s Instagram @lrhsstudentsforsafety for more updates and details for the upcoming months.
