LRHS senior Madeline McNinch is a top runner in spite of lack of experience.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS senior Madeline McNinch is one of the Ranch’s best athletes. McNinch competes in six track events: long jump, 100m dash, 200m dash, 400m dash, 4x400m relay, and the 4x100m relay.

Lakewood Ranch hasn’t always been her home, however.  Prior to her Florida life, McNinch lived in Canada.  She has only been an American resident for five years and a Florida resident for four.

Additionally, McNinch is the first person in her family to be involved in sports on the collegiate level.

McNinch was given the exceptional opportunity to continue her love for track at the collegiate level. She plans to do so at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Wofford College’s track program is an NCAA Division I school. They compete in the NCAA Southern Conference.

McNinch described her love for the cool weather and explained that as her reason for attending college outside of Florida.

“I am excited for this new opportunity,” said McNinch. “I am especially excited to share this experience with athletes who work hard and are as passionate for this sport as I am.”
