Baseball takes on softball for charity

softball sign 2020(LAKEWOOD RANCH FL.) – The LRHS softball and baseball teams will host a charity/team fundraising event at 7 p.m., Friday Feb. 7 at the LRHS softball fields.

Friday’s event will feature skills challenges between the LRHS baseball and softball team.

The challenges will include –

  • Around the horn competition form time. Three times around the bases, best time wins.
  • Outfield throw-home accuracy. Twelve throws per team to try to hit “dummies” at home plate.
  • Hit in the air= two points on the ground one point. Most total points win.
  • Baserunning speed challenge. Home to home. Three softball vs. three baseball players.
  • Three baseball vs. three softball pitchers to knock a ball off the tee. Least number of throws per pitcher wins.
  • 30 second homerun derby – Three players from each team
  • Softball pitcher vs. baseball batter.

Senior softball player Kali Reis is excited for the event, “It’s going to be a fun night for a great cause. May the best team win.”

Fifty percent of funds raised at the event will go to charity and the other fifty will go back to the softball and baseball programs.
