(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Two LRHS coaches have been named the Florida Coaches of the Year in their respective sports.

Softball coach TJ Goelz and boys basketball coach Jeremy Schiller were awarded by the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS)  an, organization that included over 750 schools in the state of Florida.

Honorees were selected based on their coaching performance in the 2018-19 school year, lifetime community involvement, school involvement, and philosophy of coaching.

Goelz was awarded the Florida Fastpitch Softball Coach of the Year award.

This is Goelz’s third year as a varsity softball head coach.

“It is a huge honor for the program and the school,” said Goelz, “I think this shows how strong of a softball program we have and how hard our coaches work.”

Schiller was awarded the NFHS 2018-19 Boys Basketball Coach of the Year award.

Schiller has coached Mustangs basketball for nine years.

“I think an award like this is more about the great players and great program at LRHS,” said Schiller, “This is another great recognition of great players and parents in our program.”

NFHS officials said it is rare to simultaneously honor two coaches at a single school.
