Dodgeball is a long-standing SGA-sponsored LRHS Spring tradition.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Student Government Association (SGA) will be participating in and hosting many events this spring.

SGA teamed up with LRHS administration to create a campaign to maintain and improve the campus’ overall cleanliness. With the help of SGA, assistant principal Michael Staker, has implemented a new approach to keeping the ranch clean.

Students are asked to pick up trash and keep the student restrooms clean. Students are also encouraged to report any vandalism or cleanliness issues.

Staker explained students may be rewarded for reporting issues around campus.

This semester, SGA will also be participating in two volunteer events, Night to Shine, and Miracle League.

Night to shine will take place on Friday, Feb. 7 at Bayside Community Church. This is an annual nationwide event started by former NFL player and Heisman Trophy  winner Tim Tebow.

During the event, volunteers help create a prom experience for special needs students unable to attend the prom.

Miracle league is a scheduled SGA volunteer event assisting those with special needs in playing baseball. Miracle League runs during the Fall and Spring seasons.

A date for Miracle League is yet to be determined.

Additionally, the annual dodgeball tournament hosted by SGA will take place on Wednesday, Mar. 11 in the LRHS gym.

The fee for each dodge ball participant is $5. Money received from this event will be donated to Bradenton’s Feeding Empty Little Tummies (F.E.L.T.) program.

Students who wish to participate may sign up during all even day lunches. Students may also pick up applications and information outside Delaney Riggins’ room (602).
