(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Junior Advisory Board (JAB) is an organization best known for planning prom. JAB spends most of their time choosing decorations, themes and invitations for the dance.

“Right now we’re finishing senior gifts, invitations, and ordering the last of the decorations for prom,” said JAB president junior Nolan Carpenter. “A lot of what I do is communicating between the committee and our advisers (Chemistry teacher Tana) Phelps and (Biology teacher Elizabeth) Coody, so we can agree on decorations and invitations and such.”

The theme of the prom is confidential until invitations are sent out.

“No one in JAB is allowed to disclose the theme, but I can tell you that it is something really amazing this year,” said Carpenter.

Prom is scheduled for Friday April 3.  Before that JAB is working on an LRHS fashion show. The fashion show aims to give students a chance to show off their prom attire before the dance, and is scheduled for March.

Anyone interested in joining JAB must apply at the end of sophomore year and go through the interview process with the advisers Phelps and Coody.

Carpenter said the interview process is very selective. Applications for 2020-21 will be available later this school year.

Anyone interested in joining JAB can contact Phelps in room 567.
