Ella Botko – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS College and Career Adviser role has been filled by Manatee Schools veteran Karla Brogdon.
Brogdon has served the district for 35 years as a teacher, high school guidance counselor, and advocate for students.
Brogdon replaces Michelle Todoroff, who left the post at the start of the school year.
Despite arriving so late in the school year, Brogdon is still eager to help students in finding and applying to scholarships such as Bright Futures, comprehending college admission standards, ACT/SAT prep, and more.
“I know that coming half-way through the year that many students have already applied to college but there’s still a lot of students who are undecided,” Brogdon said. “Even for those who have applied, there’s still a long road ahead in the acceptance process.”
Brogdon also hopes to put together a career fair after spring break for students who haven’t decided where they want to go college.
Coming out of a brief retirement, Brogdon stated, “I’m glad to be back helping kids because that’s what is really important to me.”
She will be in her office from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesday.
