(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LHRS Blood Drive has collaborated with the Buckle Up for Bswag and Bubba Association (BUBBA) to complete its third on-campus blood drive of the year.

Senior David Staddler said, “I always donate to the blood drive whenever they come to the school because I know giving blood can save lives.”

LRHS blood drive committee president Chris Georgas, senior, stated, “As always, I really love seeing the student body come together to do something they’re not all that comfortable with to benefit their community. BUBBA has been a great organization to work with and we’re always appreciative of their continuous work and involvement.”

BUBBA was created to honor LRHS students Josh “Bubba” Rogers and Brett “Bswag” Wagner after they lost their lives in a car accident in 2011.

BUBBA has worked tirelessly to promote seatbelt safety and decided to join LRHS’s blood drives to continue the work of Wagner and Rogers, who were very involved in the cause.

Through this partnership, BUBBA created the BUBBA Saves Lives Scholarship, which is granted to two LRHS seniors every year.

BUBBA matches the donations made to the school by One Blood to award the two seniors.

In past years, One Blood and BUBBA contributed a total of $4,950 to both the scholarship and Lakewood Ranch High School.

Alongside the scholarship, BUBBA has also encouraged students and faculty to give back to their communities.
