Mustang soccer recognizes seniors

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS families and friends gathered this week to honor seniors on the girls and boys soccer teams.

The boy’s senior night game began at 6 p.m. Tuesday and ended in a 3-2 win for the Mustangs against Lakeland George Jenkins High School.  It was the 200th win for head coach Vito Bavaro.

Goals for the Mustangs were scored by seniors Daniel Hernandez and Gio Christiano, and junior Timothy Sheredy.

Hernandez was also selected as the Lakewood Ranch player of the game by Max Preps.

During half time seniors were recognized for the time they dedicated to playing soccer for LRHS and walked across the field escorted by their families. The seniors recognized were:

  • Michael Plechy (Goalkeeper)
  • Noah Gilliland (Defender)
  • Jacob Jordan (Midfielder/Forward)
  • Gio Christiano (Forward)
  • Najii Greene (Forward/ Goalkeeper)
  • Cade Schwarz (Defender)
  • Anthony Sablan (Defender)
  • Ruari Leavy (Defender)

After the game seniors were celebrated and food was handed out including pizza and cake.

On Friday, Jan. 17, the girls soccer team played at the Ranch against North Port High School.

The girls’ senior night kicked off at 7:30. Before the game posters were hung all around the field, gifts were given, and pictures were taken.

The team had a challenging game against North Port, with both teams high in the rankings. The Mustangs were able to hold their own, winning 2-1 for their seniors.

When halftime rolled around, the seniors took the stage and walked the field with friends and family alongside them. The seniors recognized were:

  • Josie Curtis (Midfielder/Forward)
  • Heather Jones (Goalkeeper)
  • Morgan Deglopper (Defender)
  • Corinne Kasten (Forward)

They ended the night with a sweet, hard-earned victory and cookie cake.
