(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS softball is officially back in action with tryouts being held Jan. 21 and 22. After last year’s record-breaking season, the team hopes to build upon their success and win a state championship.

Last season, LRHS varsity softball posted a record of 30-1. The Mustangs ended their season in a heart-wrenching loss to Winter Springs in the 8A State Championship game. This year’s Mustangs are eager and ready to get back to work.

JV softball posted a record of 15-0.

Colgate University commit junior Jillian Herbst is thrilled for the season to start.

“This season we are hungrier than ever. One of our team mottos this year will be ‘One more’. The motto is based off our past success of getting one game closer to a state championship each year,” said Herbst.

Mustangs interested in trying out for the LRHS softball team must submit all athletic forms to coach Maggie Sharrer in room 731 before tryouts.
