Mustangs take early fair honors

free fair picture.jpeg(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS has been showing off their agriculture program at the Manatee County Fair this week. The Manatee County Fair is being held in Palmetto Jan. 16- 26.

The LRHS Dairy Showmanship Final Drive competitors are going to the overall championship. These competitors are Scotlynn Freitas, Saige Freitag, Brooke O’Neill, Leah Dakin, Madeline Fields, and Rebecca Cole.

During the Swine Showmanship, the class callbacks (which are usually the top three to four exhibitors per class based on age) were:

  • Class 1 -Josie Romine
  • Class 3 Julia price and Savannah Seleska
  • Class 4 Danielle Levato, Brooke O’Neill & Thomas king
  • Class 5- Merissa Mahoney
  • Class 6- Savannah Cannon, Britton Ricks, Kendyll Munger, Dawson Britt
  • Class 7-Jackson Dugmore and JT Girman
  • Class 8-Chloe Flournoy

During the final heats, the top three of each heat are selected to compete for Grand and Reserve Showmanship. Final heat one competitors are Mohoney, Levato, and O’Neill. Competitors in final heat two were Flournoy and Britt.

The Grand Champion Senior Showmanship winner was Mahoney, and the Reserve Grand Senior Showmanship Champion was Flournoy.

Five Mustangs competed in the Dairy Fitting and Grooming Contest. Members must prepare a dairy heifer for show under a time limit. These contesters were Nathan Sudenberg, Madyson Flores, Madeline Fields, Madison Hartwig, and Leah Dakin.

Jan. 16 is the Swine Show and Jan. 17 is the Dairy Show. Both shows start at 6 p.m.
