The LRHS Mustangs celebrate their 2019 baseball district title.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Mustang baseball season is here, and the coaches and players are feeling the excitement of the upcoming season.

Tryouts will start Monday, Jan. 20 and will most likely continue through Wednesday, Jan. 22. They are scheduled from 3-6 p.m., but the end time can vary.

Varsity baseball coach Ryan Kennedy expects about 70-75 athletes trying out. Due to the large number of players, both baseball fields will be used for tryouts.

Coaches and players are a little nervous, but overall, they are charged with excitement for the upcoming season.

“This time of the year is always a difficult one for us coaches having to make decisions, however, I personally am very excited for the amount of students trying out, and I am excited for the upcoming season,” said Kennedy. “This being one of the most competitive years, try outs will be very interesting.”

Junior and returning player Patrick Herbst said, “I’m looking forward to baseball season this year. Tryouts will be fun, and I can’t wait to be back on the field with my team.”

Kennedy reminded interested Mustangs that all pre-season paperwork is due Friday, Jan. 17.
