sports logo(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Throughout the year, chosen LRHS athletes have been attending lecture meetings, once a month, about how to become more effective leaders. These lectures are through the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Their most recent meeting was first period Tuesday morning. This lecture focused on the right way to use social media.

During this workshop the students were warned about the risks of using social media in the wrong way and how to use it in positive ways.

“The lesson today was another reminder of how important our social media presence is,” said senior Kali Reis. “I think it opened up my eyes and the eyes of my fellow athletes as well.”

Previously, the workshop has covered topics ranging from being a “next level” athlete to being an effective leader on the field. Throughout the year, the athletes have discussed setting goals, bullying/hazing, the mental side of the game, and most recently social media.

Junior John Schroeder attended the meetings and said, “The workshop has made me more confident in my ability to lead this season for baseball. I want to lead my team in the right direction so we can be the best we can be.”

Many of the athletes are eager about implementing their newly learned skills in order to further and grow their programs.
