Gabbi Tomaselli – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As a senior in high school I have overcome many obstacles in order to be where I am today. Everyone has a life outside of school, and it can become hard to focus in school when there is a lot going on off-campus.
My freshman and sophomore year went by quickly. My first two years of high school were typical, I made friends, got good grades, and went to high school sporting events.
My junior year was the toughest year for me. School became a lot more challenging and I had to deal with many different challenges outside of school.
It became hard for me to focus and want to even attend school. My grades began to plummet and I started to miss a lot of school.
Halfway through my junior year I decided to finish through Florida Virtual School (FLVS). I no longer got to see my friends at school and get the public-school experience, it was a very different experience.
After contemplating all summer, I decided that for my senior year I wanted to go back to public school and graduate with all the people I have grown up with.
I just had to remind myself that I needed to stay positive and have a fun senior year and not get stressed out about all the things that I was dealing with outside of school.
I am now halfway done with my senior year and I happy that I made the choice of going back to public high school. I can’t wait to cross the stage on graduation day with my fellow classmates.
