Girls basketball aims for success

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-  Girls’ basketball is now into full swing at LRHS, and thefree basketball pix team has big aspirations for the year.

The team has 24 regular season games with ten of those games at home. Junior Jordan Brown said that they need the Mustangs to show out at their games.

“The best thing about home games is that we are in our own gym and have our own students coming to see us. The best thing that students can do is pack the gym and support us,” said Brown.

Brown said that playing basketball here is one of her favorite things to do at this school.

“I love playing basketball because it allows you to pursue your personal goals while also coming together as to team to form a family bond and play better on the court each night,” said Brown.

Junior Taylor Young agrees that playing on the team is a great atmosphere.

“Win or lose, we come off the court and we pick each other up and move forward to the next day working harder to get better and improve,” said Young.

Brown also loves the intangible lessons that she gets from basketball.

“The game is truly so much more than a sport and teaches life lessons daily. I am so thankful for the opportunities basketball has given me and the bonds that have come out of playing,” said Brown.

The goal for this season is to win and play beyond districts.

Brown shared, “Looking at our season, it will be tough but with hard work and perseverance we can win the district championship.”
