(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On  Saturday, Dec. 8. the LRHS cheerleading program competed at the Florida Fair Grounds. The JV team placed second, and the varsity team placed ninth.

Varsity cheerleading coach Kiana Kowalewski said, “Although we would have placed higher if not for an illegal dismount, I think the team performed very well for their first competition.”

The varsity competed against nine other teams at the competition

Kowalewski said, “I feel that the best way for us to improve for this next competition is to practice. The more practice, the more improvements we can make.”

The LRHS varsity cheerleading team competes again on Jan. 9 against the Calvary Christian cheerleading team.

The JV cheerleading team competed against two other teams at the competition.

JV cheerleading coach Sherri Haber said, “I felt that their placement was good. If we had not changed some parts of the routine we potentially could have tied for first place.”

The LRHS JV cheerleading team has their next competition on Jan. 26.

Haber said, “We have improved since the last competition; however, the team could be keeping their voices loud during the cheer, making their motions cleaner, and smiling throughout the routine.”
