Seniors(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Many LRHS students are both stressing and looking forward to graduation in May. The excitement comes from being done with high school, but more stress involved what comes after high school.

State College of Florida – Manatee/Sarasota (SCF) is a local college that provides college level classes at a lower cost than a University.

Payton Rypel was an LRHS senior last year, and she is planning on going to SCF for two years, then transferring to a university.

Rypel stated, “I am happy with my choice! I am saving a lot of money, and I love the campus and all the teachers. Student’s shouldn’t stress about going to a university right away.”

Sara Anthony is an associate professor at SCF Bradenton. She has been a professor at this campus since it opened.

According to Anthony, “SCF is the smart way out. I also think that 18-year old students aren’t aware how much a university costs. Even if you want to attend a university, you can always transfer after 1 or 2 years.

If you attend SCF for 2 years and exceed with a 3.0 GPA, you are eligible to transfer to any university in Florida as a junior. If you get about a 3.4 GPA in only one year, you can transfer to any university in Florida in just 1 year.
