(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Winter is a busy time for LRHS chorus, “MustAng Cappella,” and orchestra students. The Mustangs are performing their Choral Winter Concert is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at LRHS.

“I’m really excited to hear my a cappella students perform ‘O Come, O Come, Emmanuel’ because it was really hard to learn, but came together very nicely,” said LRHS choir director Giselle Panagiotakis, “I’m also excited for ‘Joy to World’ because everyone is singing it together as a whole.”

Along with these songs, Panagiotakis is also looking forward to her favorite song to conduct, “O Holy Night.”

Christmas music has become an iconic part of the holiday season, and has a special place in Panagiotakis’ heart.

“Music is a way to sum up a lot of feelings and memories. I was listening to Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’ this morning and I remember I was six years old doing a dance recital when that came out,” said Panagiotakis, “It’s those songs that make everyone think back to their childhood and their memories.”

Senior Kaitlyn Proulx has a solo in “Mary, Did You Know?” Though she is nervous for her performance, she is also looking forward to it.

“Chorus has been like a family to me, so I’m feeling a mix of emotions heading into my last winter concert,” said Proulx, “I’m excited because I’m singing in all of the choruses this year, but also sad to have to leave it all.”

In addition to their winter concert, the Mustangs will be caroling around the campus. On Thursday, Dec. 12, advanced women’s chorus will be caroling during second period and on Friday, Dec. 13, “MustAng Capella” will be caroling during seventh period.

Tickets for the Choral Winter Concert are $4 at the door.
