(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-LRHS seniors have what can be a surprisingly expensive year as there are a lot of fees associated with being a senior.

Seniors must pay a mandatory graduation fee; the price starts at $25 and increases throughout the year.

Senior pictures are done through Cady Studios. The yearbook pictures are $30 and seniors who want to purchase photos must pay an additional amount.

Each year, the senior class gets the option to purchase a sweatshirt that is personalize for each senior class. The sweatshirt cost $30.

Seniors, or their parents, can choose to purchase senior pages in the yearbook that range from $65-$295 depending on the size and color.

Seniors also have the option to paint their senior parking spot. It costs $5 to be able to paint the spot. Seniors were responsible for their own paint and the supplies that go along with painting a spot.

Senior Gabbi Tomaselli said, “I couldn’t believe how expensive it was to paint my parking spot. The paint was $20 per a can and I had to buy rollers and brushes. I have several different colors so the price kept adding up and I end up spending roughly $150.”

Senior prom tickets cost $60 dollars, not including the price of the dress, makeup, suits, dinner, and other expenses.

Senior Chloe Nelson said her senior year has been incredibly busy due to the time-consuming college applications and fees to send her scores. “It really adds up with all of the senior fees for graduation, transcript fees, prom, and homecoming,” Nelson added.
