Daniel Hernandez-Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS wrestling season has begun and with that comes plenty of preparation, as well as a lot of hard work and determination.
Senior Varsity wrestlers Cameron Schilson and Jamal Aoudi are part of the program and are looking forward to this season.
Wrestling is a sport that requires a lot of strength and resistance. Aoudi has been doing exactly what is needed for this year’s wrestling season.
“What I have been doing to prepare for this upcoming season is waking up Monday through Friday at 5 a.m. to lift weights,” Aoudi said. “On weekends I wake up early and go for a two-mile run.”
The LRHS wrestling program has placed competitors in states several times, and they’re looking to once again. Being a senior on the team makes Aoudi want to accomplish this goal.
“My goal is to place at states, and maybe even get first too,” Aoudi said. “This being my last year, I will be missing the wrestling program very much, and I will put all my strength and effort into every wrestling match this season.”
Schilson also has high standards for this season.
“I feel like we’re going to have a really good season both as a team and individually,” said Schilson. “We have the depth and talent to send multiple people to states this year and our main goal is to be a state champion.”
