(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Tuesday  Lakewood Leaders members volunteered to go to Manatee Elementary School to help spread Christmas cheer.

Some of the children at Manatee Elementary come from low-income families, and do not have much money to spend on Christmas.

Sophomore Campbell Laurvick said, “Kids at Manatee Elementary School are not as privileged as others and spreading the Christmas cheer with them might be the best thing they have done this season.”

Students helped decorate cookies, played tag, read books, handed out goodie bags, and walked the children to all the stations.

Sophomore Cameron Perry said, “I helped with cookie decorating, where we gave the children two cookie to decorate however they wanted.”

The Lakewood Leaders participates in this event every year, and anyone in the club is welcome to attend the event.

Senior Taylor Ferber said, “I participate in this event every year that I have been in the club because I love helping spread the Christmas cheer in our community.”

The students who participated in the event received hours of community service that will go towards earning Bright Futures scholarships.
