(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Over Thanksgiving Break, The LRHS Marching Mustangs ended their season with a third-place win in the class 4a division at the Florida Marching Band Championships (FMBC) State Finals.

The competition took place on Nov. 23 in Daytona, FL at the Daytona Stadium. The band first competed in Semi-Finals and then advanced to Finals as one of the top five bands in the state, winning first in field visual.

Color guard member senior Kyra Rouse was quite nervous during the awards ceremony, especially when a school that has a name similar to LRHS was called.

“It was nerve wracking standing at Semi-Finals awards and hearing sixth place be called as Lake Howell,” Rouse said. “Going to finals freshman year and having two years of not making it (wasn’t fun) and now that we have made it again, I feel that we are on top of the world.”

This year was color guard member junior Ally Pascarella’s third year competing and her first year making it to finals.

“I had always wanted to experience finals since we didn’t make it my first two years and it was really disappointing,” said Pascarella. “This year, everyone had faith and pushed through the whole season with determination.”
