news logo(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS Unified Club has been volunteering at the Special Olympics monthly dances.

These dances are held monthly by the Special Olympics at Sarasota’s Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church. Special Olympics holds these dances so members with disabilities can meet with their friends and interact with others.

At the dance food is served, there is music and tables to sit at. Volunteers pass out food, dance and chat with the members.

Unified Club President senior Brooke Roberts said, “I love going to the dances, just hanging out with my friends, and having a good time.”

This is an opportunity for volunteers and members to be more accepting and inclusive with everyone.
