NEWS(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- This week is American Education Week and that means LRHS will join schools across America in celebrating and raising awareness about providing every child with a quality public education.

American Education Week has been around since 1921 and been gaining sponsors ever since.

This week’s activities include –

  • Monday – Letter writing during 1st period – Students will write a letter of appreciation to a faculty or staff member here at LRHS.
  • Tuesday – Favorite College Day – Students, faculty and staff will wear a T-shirt/sweatshirt of their favorite college.
  • Wednesday – “School is Cool” – Ice cream for the faculty and staff.
  • Thursday – Holiday Meal Day
  • Friday – Donut/Muffin Day – Donuts, muffins, and coffee will be available to teachers and staff outside of the principal’s office.

The National Education Association (NEA) website said, “These activities will help reinforce American Education Week’s theme, ‘Reach. Educate. Inspire.’  The theme represents NEA’s vision of calling upon all Americans to do their part in making public schools great for every child so that they can grow and achieve in the 21st century.”

Students are encouraged to celebrate this week and help to spread the word about how important it is in a child’s life to attend a great public school.
