(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS HOSA chapter participated in the National HOSA week from Nov. 4-8. The spirit themes were organized by the national and state chapters.
HOSA is a club for students who intend to pursue health careers.
Monday was “Pin Day” and “Learn More Monday.” Members wore HOSA pins they received throughout their HOSA journey. For “Learn More Monday” officers posted a picture of an event the chapter attended this year.
Tuesday was “Social Awareness Day” and “Towards Tomorrow Tuesday.” For social awareness, members posted a fact about Pediatric Cancer on social media and for “Towards Tomorrow Tuesday” members wrote their goals on sticky notes.
Vice president senior Cameron Willis said, “It was so interesting to see our members goals. It motivated me to help, and work towards the goals we all set.”
Wednesday was “Welcome Wednesday,” and “Poster Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Day.” For “Welcome Wednesday” the chapter highlighted a new member and “Poster DIY Day” was when members gathered to create posters about Pediatric Cancer.
Thursday was “Throwback Thursday” and members posted old photos from their HOSA Journey.
Friday was “National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) Friday;” chapters shared fundraiser ideas for the NPCF and wore orange to support the charity.
President senior Nicolette Ngov said, “This was a bittersweet HOSA week for me because I know it is my last one in High School, but it is always amazing to see members work together to support our club. “
In order to raise money for the NPCF, HOSA’s national project, and implement HOSA week ideas, LRHS HOSA is hosting a fundraiser at Ace Hardware on Nov. 23.
Willis said, “NPCF is such an important cause due to the lack of research in the field of pediatric cancer. I am so glad that it is our national project. I hope we seen tons of familiar faces at the carwash in support of such an important cause. ”
