nhs logo(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – This weekend many members of LRHS’s National Honor Society (NHS) volunteered at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’s Annual Breast Cancer Walk.

Early in the morning on Nov. 10, the volunteers arrived at Benderson Park ready to help.

The NHS volunteers were split into three different groups. These groups were assigned different tasks including set-up, clean-up, and walker registration. When they were done completing these tasks and/or waiting to start, the volunteers made cheer groups and encouraged the runners to finish strong.

“It was a great event to volunteer at because I was able to witness the community coming together not only raise money for Breast Cancer, but also to support and celebrate this disease’s survivors,” said senior Chris Georgas.

After the run was over both volunteers and participants enjoyed food from several food trucks that came for the event.
