(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Saturday, Nov. 9, the LRHS junior varsity (JV) cheerleading team won first place at their first competition of the season.

As football season ends, competition season is one of the main focuses of LRHS cheerleaders.

One of the captains and sophomore Sophie Joslyn said, “The team was upset that football season was over but is now excited to start competing.”

The team competed Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders Association (FCCA) and Florida Kick-Off Classic at Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL.

The LRHS JV cheerleading team scored a 75 out of 100 and had only 1.5 points in deductions.

Coach Sherri Haber said, “Even though we won our first competition, we still are going to continue to work hard and put more difficulty into the routine to help raise our score.”

Joslyn said, “The team did really well for their first competition, and we are excited to compete again in December.”
