Mustang swimmers excel at districts

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS swim teams competed in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) District 6 Championship meet on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Sarasota, FL.

The majority of the Mustangs at the district meet recorded personal best times in their individual events and in their relays. 17 swimmers also placed in the top 10 for their events.

LRHS head coach Kyle Steinberg said, “We had some really exciting swimming…at the 4a District 6 Swimming Championships, everyone is so proud of all the hard work and fantastic times.”

This meet also determined which swimmers qualified for the FHSAA Region 2 Championship meet on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Long Center in Clearwater, FL. A total of eight girls and six boys qualified to represent LRHS at the regional meet.

The girls’ 200-yard Medley Relay, 200-yard Freestyle Relay, and 400-yard Freestyle Relay teams qualified for the regional meet. The boys’ 200-yard Freestyle Relay and 400-yard Freestyle Relay teams qualified as well.
