Girls head to cross-country states

Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS girls cross country team qualified for the FHSAA state meet this past weekend, placing fifth out of the eight teams from the region.

The Mustangs ran at Lake Region High School in Winter Haven where the 4A Region 2 race was held.

The girls are extremely excited to compete this weekend.

Senior  Mason Ingallinera is the only senior on the state team and a veteran, whose ultimate goal is to run well in the state competition.

“I’m very excited for states,” said Ingallinera. “I went as a fresh man and had a lot of fun and I am thrilled to share this experience with all my new teammates as a senior, I think we are all going to do really well and I can see PR’s (personal records) occurring this weekend.”

The other qualifiers on the LRHS team include  –

  • Freshman Tamlyn Leatt
  • Sophomores Jessica Neal and Aurora Melzer
  • Juniors Emma Paliotta, Sydney Granack, and Riley Bradshaw

The 4A FHSAA state cross country meet is scheduled to be on Nov. 9 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.
