John Osborne – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- New LRHS student IDs were distributed to students Wednesday.
Most Mustangs got their ID’s in third period, but schedule changes mean some may receive theirs at a later date.
The school ID’s are required to have students’ names on them and be visible for all to see.
Mustangs have mixed feelings on wearing ID’s in school.
“ID’s are important because after incidences like Parkland we need to know who every individual is on campus and they must wear identification cards. If a situation does happen where law enforcement is on campus, they need to be able to identify every student,” said LRHS discipline dean Jacob Sponsel.
Some Mustangs, such as junior Jacob Rosales-Guevara, were happy to receive the new ID.
“I like the new ID’s; it has my full name and my grade,” said Rosales-Guevara.
However, some Mustangs don’t love their IDs.
Junior Sebastian Gonzalez said, “I don’t like how much they zoomed me out in my picture.”
Administrators say IDs are vital to ensure campus safety and security.
