(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS Marching Mustangs had another successful weekend at the Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessment (MPA). The competition took place on Saturday at Manatee High School.

The band earned straight superiors in the categories of music, general effect, visual performance, percussion and auxiliary.

Assistant band director Kristin Greene stated “The Marching Mustang Band has earned superior ratings at this festival as long as the school has been open.”

The band has been working hard in classes and at practices each week to earn these ratings and maintain a four-year streak of straight superiors. The effort and dedication are needed to keep things running smoothly.

“I felt very happy and very emotional because it was the first time in Lakewood’s band history that the seniors got straight superiors all four years,” Color guard senior Kyra Rouse said. “I was very happy for the guard and felt so proud of what we have all become and have done.”
