(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS welcomes new substitute teacher Jake Dube. Dube is covering for social studies teacher Nadia Matijasevic, while she is on maternity leave.

While new to the classroom, Dube is no stranger to LRHS.  He graduated from the school in 2015.

He graduated from Briar Cliff University in Iowa on a soccer scholarship as a member of the Class of 2019.

Dube moved to Iowa to pursue a career in soccer. Throughout his time in college he found a love for education.

“I ended up getting my certification and bachelor’s degree in teaching so when the opportunity came along, I knew I had to take it,” said Dube.

Being an LRHS graduate, Dube is glad to be back at the school.

“It feels great to be back. It is really different being on the side of the teacher and the not the student,” Dube said. “There’s so much that goes into teaching that the students don’t get to see.”

He added on that the faculty has been very kind and welcoming since he has started. Dube is also very excited about being able to work alongside with his former teachers.

Dube said, “From both being a student and working here, I have always loved the LRHS community. They always strive to push each other and do their best.”

Throughout the time he has left working at LRHS, Dube hopes to inspire his students.

“I am always about passion,” Dube expressed, “I want to make students thrilled about learning.”
