(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The monthly LRHS National Honor Society (NHS) member meeting was held on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
The first topic of discussion was the raise in members’ dues. For all members who haven’t paid their dues, the price was raised from $25 to $30.
Fees will be used to purchase member t-shirts and fund NHS events. Dues need to be paid online by Oct. 16.
The second topic of discussion was upcoming events. The events that occur regularly are Miracle League, which occurs every other week, and McNeal Elementary after school help, which occurs every week.
More upcoming events include the annual car wash, the YMCA Halloween Celebration, the Sledding with Santa event, and the Breast Cancer Walk.
NHS members who wish to participate in the Breast Cancer Walk must go to training for this event. At this event members will hand out water to walkers and help with set-up and clean-up. Members can sign up and get more information for these events on the NHS Schoology page.
“I am almost done with my 12 required volunteer hours and am looking forward to completing these hours with the upcoming NHS Car wash,” exclaimed senior Tayla Rosenthal.
For NHS members who are not part of the NHS group on Schoology can see an officer for the code.
The final topic of the meeting was the annual Hunsader’s Autumn carnival event. Those volunteering at this event should pick their ticket in LRHS English teacher and NHS adviser Mary Ellen Eskett’s room, 917.
NHS Parliamentarian senior Manoela Dos Santos said, “It is important to check Schoology regularly, sign-ups fill up fast. Every member needs to do 12 hours before the Dec. 9.
