Mustangs win girls district golf title

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS girls golf team won the 3A District 11 Golf tournament last week. Mustang Ashleigh Angelo received Medalist with a score of 73, closely followed by Ashlyn Einwachter with a score of 74.

Also contributing to the win was Lauren Hosier finished in third with a score of 78, Jessica Kobetitsch with 95, and Mikayla Stokes with 99.

The girls will be competing in the Region 3 golf tournament Oct. 21 at Heritage Oaks.

On Sept. 25 the Boys Golf team competed at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, Royal Lakes Course against Cardinal Mooney, Out-of-Door Academy (ODA), and Braden River.

Breaking their season best by 9 shots, the Mustangs beat rival Braden River, but unfortunately lost to ODA by 9 and Cardinal Mooney by 17.

Cardinal Mooney led the tournament with a score of 137, followed by Out-of-Door Academy with 145. The Mustangs finished with 137, and Braden River following up with 160.

Johnny May was team medalist for the first time this season with a one-over-par 37 but tied with Preston Severs who also had a 37. Stryker Reid shot 39 and lone senior Elijah Ellingson fired a 41.

Reid commented, “I’m extremely proud of Johnny, he’s worked hard this season and I’m so happy he received the Team Medalist.”
