fca logo(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) -The LRHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is having a Fields of Faith event next Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

There will be free food available during the event for all who participate.

This is a non-denominational event that anyone can take part in to have fun while expressing their faith with friends and community members around you. It is student led and located in an athletic field to provide a common ground for the community to come together.

Two Mustangs will lead a prayer over the event and will lead everyone into worship. The event will have students, staff and faculty members, and members of the community in attendance.

An opportunity will be provided to read the Bible and preach to others. No pastors or youth ministers will speak at the event to prevent it from seeming denominational.  It will all be run by the kids themselves.

“Even though the name is Fellowship of Christian Athletes,” said LRHS physical education teacher and FCA adviser Kelly Smith-Williams.  “It is not just for Christians, it is an open event that anyone is welcomed and invited to attend.”

The FCA is also holding a tailgate at the homecoming football game this Friday where they will raffle off a Florida Gators basketball signed by the team’s coach.
