Sophomores appreciate second year on gridiron

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS junior varsity (JV) football players John Anuszewski, Neale Ngov, Sam McCracken, Jon Klein, Josh McManis, and Paxton Pope are enjoying their second year on the team.

Mustangs Ahead checked up on them to see how their year was going and how they liked it so far. Captain Josh McManis is unfortunately still on crutches but goes to every game and practice to support his team.

MA: How do you like your first year of football so far?

Anuszewski: “So far it’s been okay, but there definitely needs to be some changes and a lot of improvements.”

MA: What are the positives of being a part of this team at LRHS?

Pope: “I love it. It’s so much fun being a part of a family.”

MA: What are some challenges of being a part of this team?

Anuszewski: “Some challenges include having to learn your position and the plays that that come with it.”

MA: What are you looking forward to this year for football?

McCracken: “Being able to start in all of the games.”

MA: How do you hope to grow in your years playing for LRHS?

Klein: “Getting better as an individual.”

MA: How long have you played football as a whole?

McManis: “One game and two seasons.”

MA: Are you playing any other sports for LRHS?

Pope: “I’m playing for the lacrosse team.”

Klein: “I will be playing for the soccer and lacrosse team.”

MA: What is the best part of playing for the football team?

Anuszewski: “The best part about being on the football team is being able to tackle people, and to not get in trouble for it.”

MA: How do you balance schoolwork and playing a sport?

Ngov: “As soon as I get home from football practice I go and do my homework.”
