The LRHS volleyball Mustangs are enjoying late-season success.

Much of this success is due to the weekend tournaments the Mustangs have attended in their off time.

On the weekend of Sept. 13-14, the Mustangs traveled to Orlando to participate in the Winter Springs High School Showcase.

The Mustangs played and beat some of the most competitive teams from around the state such as Olympia High School and Lourdes Academy.

The team also traveled to Tampa on Saturday, Sept. 28 to participate in the Wharton High School Tournament.

The Mustangs played well but fell just short to a few of the top teams in the state like Wharton who is ranked 27 in the state and has only one loss.

Senior Anna Shelby Dees told HT Preps, “The teams we played in Orlando were really, really good teams. Those were teams we really weren’t expecting to hang with, and we ended up beating them or coming really close. That made us realize we are a better team than we thought we were.”

The ladies next home game is on Monday against Riverview Sarasota.

“The Stampede” LRHS spirit club has planned for a neon theme for the game.

Freshman plays at 5 p.m., JV at 6 p.m., and varsity at 7 p.m.
