(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Film and Acting Club held its first meeting Sept. 3 in room 710.

Film and Acting is a club that focusses on bringing the film process to life in the classroom through a variety of projects.

Last year’s club project was a spinoff of Jeopardy. Each episode featured some odd twist, such as the Hulk as a contestant.

This year in Film and Acting, the goal is to submit a short movie to the Sarasota Film Festival.

“I enjoy Film and Acting because we meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” vice president of Film and Acting Kathryn Clark said. “I’m able to act and make films without having a strict acting schedule while still being able to edit and create films.”

The club has zero requirements to join, but experience in acting, photography, editing, or writing is helpful. The club doesn’t charge anyone to join but prop donations for the club are gladly accepted.

Film and Acting offers a variety of roles for their members to take part in.

“We have preproduction, production, and postproduction. Throughout those processes, we split into five separate groups which are scriptwriting, set and costume design, the camera crew, actors and editors,” said Clark.

The 2019-20 school year is Clark’s second holding an officer position and she finds it extremely beneficial and enjoyable.

“One of my favorite parts is being able to direct and stepping up in a leadership position has been a great opportunity, being able to be a part of making the film process come to life in the classroom has been very fulfilling,” shared Clark.

Film and Acting gives members a chance to grow in their talents. Those interested in the film process are encouraged to join.

“It’s very exciting to see other students flourish with their different talents,” Clark said, “Watching them grow and contribute to the film process is amazing.”

Those interested in joining should see Advisor Jessica Pellicone in room 710 or contact them on Instagram @lrhsfilmandactingclub.
