(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS soccer season is right around the corner and preseason fitness tryouts have been scheduled for any girls interested in trying out.
Preseason fitness is every Monday and Wednesday after school from 3-4:15 p.m. at the practice fields.
“Preseason practices are being held to ensure our girls come into the season fit,” head
coach Delaney Riggins said. “There are definitely things out of our control in the sport of soccer, but fitness is something we can control. My goal is to always be the most fit team on the field.”
Practices include fitness tests, agility training, sprints, long distance running, and core workouts.
These practice sessions are also great for meeting new and returning players.
“Not only are they getting themselves in shape to compete at a high level, but this also gives them an opportunity to meet some of the returning players,” said Riggins.
After winning the district championship last year Riggins is excited to see how well the team will do this year.
“I am very excited to see how far the girls will go this year,” said Riggins. “They have so much potential and I am looking forward to watching them grow as individuals and a group.”
In the two weeks before tryouts Riggins will start holding practices three times a week.
“I will be holding sessions Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school from 3:00-4:15,” said Riggins. “This will continue throughout the two weeks leading up to tryouts.”
Tryouts will be held Oct. 21 at the practice fields from 3-4:45 p.m. each day.
