Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Thursday night the LRHS varsity volleyball team added another win to their record beating Manatee High, 3-2.

Head coach Perri Hankins said, “I think the team played very well and bounced back from our loss the other night (Tuesday to Braden River High). We played better defensively, which we worked on in practice, and did what we needed to do to get ready for our district game this Saturday against Gulf Coast.”

Senior Anna Shelby Dees lead the team with 22 kills on 63 attempts and just 7 errors.

The Mustangs are now 3-4 on the season with three out of their four losses to top 50 teams from around the state.

JV also had a solid match beating Manatee, 25-3 and 25-9.

Sophomore Nicole Hyer said, “We did a really good job playing at our level and letting the other team make the mistakes and limiting ours.”

Varsity will head to Riverview High School on Saturday, Sept 6 to face off against Gulf Coast High School in a district match.
