(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Quill and Scroll, an international honor society for outstanding high school journalists, had their first LRHS informational meeting on Aug. 29.

Adviser and LRHS English teacher Candice Delazzer has been involved with Quill and Scroll for 23 years.

“My original degree is in Journalism, so it was a natural fit to be the advisor of Quill and Scroll because I want student journalists to have the opportunity to belong to such a prestigious organization,” said Delazzer.

Quill and Scroll participates in various projects including appreciation cards for teachers during American Education Week, the Sarasota-Manatee County Mayors’ Feed the Hungry campaign, and an Easter party for the Mini-Mustangs.

“Joining Quill and Scroll is a really good opportunity to get involved in the community along with fellow writers,” said senior Kaylee Eckelman, “I highly recommend joining if you’re interested in creative or journalistic writing.”

To be eligible to join Quill and Scroll Mustangs must be upperclassmen, have good academic standing, and must be involved in an aspect of high school journalism (newspaper, yearbook, TV, magazine) or creative writing.

See Delazzer in room 541 for more information.
