Mustang Fall teams storm into new year

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Students may still be settling into the routines of the new school year, but there is no doubt Mustang athletics is fully into the swing of thing.s 

On Aug. 22, the varsity volleyball team won their first home game against Bradenton Christian.

Many Mustangs showed up to support the team.

“The crowd last night was so much fun to play in front of,” varsity volleyball player Julia Kuehn said. “They really helped us with their energy and by cheering us on.”

The volleyball team is off to a good start, currently with a 2-2 record. Their next home game is against Manatee at 7 p.m., Sept. 5

Many Mustangs are also excited for the start of varsity football’s season.

“I hope I can go to most of the games, and I can’t wait to cheer on the team this season,” said senior Ashlyn Einwachter.

Varsity football’s first home game against Bayshore is at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 6.

Golf has already started their season, and they are off to a successful start.  Both the boys and girls teams competed in a tournament last Wednesday. The girls won 3 –0. The boys won as well.

The next boy’s match is scheduled for Manatee is 5 p.m. Sept. 5. That day the girls will also be playing at the Riverview National tournament.

The combined varsity and J.V. cross-country teams succeeded at their first meet on Aug. 24. Their next meet is the Venice Invitational, this Saturday at Venice High School.
