Julia Hatton – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Jennifer Grant is a new LRHS English teacher this year. She teaches English 2 Honors and World Literature Honors.
Grant has been a teacher for 12 years. She previously taught at Buffalo Creek Middle
“High school is a big change; the students are so much bigger and more mature for the most part,” she said.
When Grant graduated from the University of Georgia with a teaching degree, she knew that English was what she wanted to teach. She always had a passion for it and wanted to share her love for English to other kids.
“English has always been my favorite subject, and I would never want anything more then to teach students to love reading and writing,” Grant said.
LRHS was a good choice for Grant because she was familiar with the school, since her daughter, Olivia Grant, graduated from the school in 2019.
“My first day was overwhelming with all the students and the big campus, but I eventually learned my way around,” shared Grant.
Grant said there are a lot of pros and cons of teaching, but her favorite part is “working with students to help them grow into better thinkers and strong writers. The only part of being a teacher I don’t like is all the papers I grade, but everything else is perfect to me.”
The thing that Grant looks forward to the most is “seeing my students years later, who have learned to be strong writers, and thank me for helping them.”
