(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS junior varsity (JV) football started their season Wednesday night, but the game against Riverview High School brought the season to a shaky start.

LRHS lost 70-0 against Riverview away.

“The game could have gone better,” said sophomore John Anuszewski. “We are hoping to use this game as a look back to move forward in the future.”

Anuszewski said that he is looking for more wins, a better game, and a better score.

JV coach Alex Michaud is looking forward to a fresh start next week as the “New Ranch.

“Though we made a lot of little mistakes during the first half, second half was much better,” Michaud said. “We only gave them six points.”

Michaud is putting most of his focus on changing the players’ drive and installing a positive mentality.

Despite the result, freshman John Sirignano is looking forward to the rest of the season.

“I’m excited to see this team grow together as the years go on,” said Sirignano.

The Mustangs next game is scheduled for Sept. 5 at Bayshore High School.
