Jillian Herbst and Gaby Rosabal- Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Members of the class of 2023 aren’t the only new faces on campus. New clinic staffers Christine Koch and Laura Anderson are also joining the Ranch this year.
Koch had been working with special needs kids for six years before coming to LRHS. She decided she needed a change in environment and became the head nurse at LRHS.
Ever since she was young Koch wanted to be a nurse. Koch said, “I would always put the band aids on my brothers, the title of nurse just stuck to me. From that, it turned into my career.”
Keeping up with so many Mustangs can be difficult, but Koch is up for the challenge.
Koch said, “It’s going to be a challenge to keep up with the student’s mediations and health issues, but their smiles and bright faces will make everything worth it.”
Clinic Aide Anderson was previously a labor and delivery nurse at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and decided to come to LRHS to have more time to focus on her family. She likes working in the school system so she can watch all the basketball games and be home on the weekends.
Anderson said, “Being a nurse, I would always miss the big things because of my jobs’ strict hours, but now that my son is a freshman, I am taking this opportunity to never miss a game and always be home for dinner.”
Anderson loves the environment that being a school nurse comes with. She enjoys working with the teenagers and the working hours are a bonus for her.
