(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS HOSA had its first meeting of 2019-20 Aug. 21. The meeting was open to anyone interested in joining the club or interested in the medical field.
HOSA is a medical based competition club that strives to educate the next generation of health professionals. HOSA has a variety of competitions that include creating boards, acting in skits, reading, and more.
Senior Vice President Cameron Willis said, “I am are so excited for the new year, and what is to come. I’m glad that so many people showed up to our first meeting, and I can’t wait to bond with all our new, and old members.”
This school year is HOSA’s 10th anniversary at LRHS, and the club has many things planned for the upcoming year. At the first meeting, the officers discussed the upcoming events, the community service opportunities and the different competitions.
Senior President Nicolette Ngov said, “Our meeting had a great turnout for the first one of the year with 64 people in attendance. I’m glad that we could introduce so many people to what HOSA has to offer like our helmet safety education program and bringing medicine to rural areas with Rural Area Medicine (RAM). I can’t wait for all this year has in store.”
The second meeting is scheduled for Sept. 4 after school. Applications given at the first meeting will be due at the second meeting. Members will be able to pay their dues online starting on Aug. 26.
