(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – This year LRHS has a revamped creative writing class. Creative writing is a class where students think innovatively and transform those thoughts into literary works.
Creative writing teacher Kristen Wikstrom hopes to open doors of opportunity for
students as they become eloquent writers, speakers, and more confident in themselves.
Wikstrom is fully invested in this class even though she was informed she would be teaching it only days before the start of school
“After learning I would be teaching this class my reaction was pure, unadulterated excitement,” shared Wikstrom. “I love to write and I think this is a great opportunity for growth at our school.
“I certainly can’t teach how to be creative but I can bring that creativity out of people, to do that I think it’s of paramount importance to make this a safe space for kids to share their writing, and that ability to feel comfortable is my priority,” Wikstrom continued.
Students are also enthusiastic about the class.
Sophomore Sydney Jamison said, “Coming to creative writing makes my day, and I get excited to go to school every morning.”
