(Lakewood Ranch, FL)- Lakewood Loves Animals Club is recruiting members to kickstart the new year.

Lakewood Loves Animals, a club devoted to raising awareness on environmental issues and animal rights, has scheduled their first meeting for Monday, Aug. 19.

LRHS math teacher and club adviser Catherine Franek shared the club’s objectives and the activities that will take place during the first meeting.

“The main goal of Lakewood Loves Animals is to help local shelters by doing different drives (I.e. food, toy and treats) and volunteering at local shelters,” said Franek.

This year the club plans to participate in goat yoga, shelter tours/visits, cleanups and nature outings. Students may also earn volunteer hours for participating in events.

“We need people who are passionate about helping animals and are willing to put in time and work to make a difference in shelter animals’ lives and our environment,” said Franek.

Meetings will be held from 2:30 to 3:15 every Monday afternoon in room 579.
