Silver Stars shine bright in summer

Maddie Forman and Gracie Coyne – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- This summer the LRHS Silver Stars dance team traveled to the Universal Dance Association (UDA) Camp to their annual dance competition July 10-13 to St. Petersburg for the  and competed with their national routine.

After arriving at camp, the team performed their first dance routine, which they have been preparing for a month in advance. The team won fourth place in the national competition.

Throughout the duration of camp, the Silver Stars dance team won 42 superior blue ribbons. They won a bid to national championships which will take place February at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando. The team also won the leadership award.

Two Silver Stars, senior Brooke Martin and junior Jessica Baltes, won the All-American award and have the opportunity to go to Rome and perform in Italy for the New Year’s Day parade.

Martin has been a part of the Silver Stars since freshman year and is now captain of the team.

“Camp was really fun, and I enjoyed spending time with the girls and being able to bond with the team” she stated.

senior Emma Bramley said, “I enjoyed dancing with the new members of the team and getting to know them.  Throughout my years I have met so many amazing members and had an amazing experience. The group of girls on the team have helped me learn so much more than I ever expected.”
